Welcome aboard the newly renovated Barge Meanderer! This luxury barge provides you with a one-of-a-kind experience as it cruises with you up and down the Upper Loire Valley! There is simply no better way to enjoy France than to cruise along the historic countryside while you savor great cuisine. You can discover vineyards and galleries or bike along the hills and trails of the country. When you take a Meanderer voyage, you barge on your terms and your French dream vacation.
Let’s talk about some of the personalized touches you can expect while vacationing with onboard one of our French barge cruises.
1. Travel on Shore or Stay Barge Side
One of our most enjoyable options that you can experience on the Barge Meanderer is our deluxe guided biking tours which accommodates guests of all skills levels from recreational to expert riders. During these guided bike tours, you will travel along French canals and visit what we call “true bikes’ paradise.” There is GPS available so that you can travel at a pace that works for you.
A beginner’s bike tour is anywhere from flat or mild elevation and lasts between 2-10 miles. The intermediate enthusiasts bike tour is 25-45 miles or 2-3.5 hours with light elevation. For the highly experienced and conditioned riders, the guided ride is 55-85 miles (3.5 hours) with medium elevation.
If you choose to stay on the barge, may we suggest relaxing in the salon or out on the deck? Our newly decorated salon is available to help you plan your next excursion or you can reminisce about the activities you have just experienced. In the salon there is a warm and comfortable setting to enjoy a nice glass of wine while you socialize with others. You can also meander over to the spacious teak-covered sun deck. Or plan to do nothing at all and relax in the heated spa-pool as you coast down the river and take in all of the changing views.

2. Special Dietary Restrictions
Another wonderful aspect of the Barge Meanderer is the gourmet dining aboard. Did you know that the barge owners, Susan and George Kovalick also owned a highly raved and reviewed upscale restaurant? They have applied their culinary experience from their restaurant to the Meanderer to ensure the same caliber of fine dining and exquisite food artistry.
During your barge cruise in France, you can either dine al fresco under the canopy area or in the elegant salon. Both of which provide an exceptional experience for your taste buds.

The menu represents the renowned French dining and the meals on board are prepped with only the finest ingredients, picked almost daily from the chef in the towns you will cruise through. Our chef also has knowledge of the local wine regions and incorporate excellent wine pairings on board which help enhance your dining experience.
For all special dietary requests, menus can be adjusted to ensure we are providing you with only the best meals. Here at the Barge Meanderer, we do our best to customize all of our meals to the likes, and dislikes, of our passengers.
3. Charter the Entire Barge
What better way to celebrate an anniversary, retirement, birthday party or any other special event than to charter the barge with your closest friends and family? There are three en-suite cabins that each measure in excess of 125 square feet! Each cabin can split between two twin beds, or a queen bed arrangement and the air-conditioned and newly decorated cabins complement the outdoor teak deck. This will be an experience you and your loved ones will never forget!
